Long Time No Post

Posted by bookinn on September 16, 2008

Summer has been busy and i haven’t read very much at all. I’ve got quite a few early readers that i’m working on now.

Currently reading: A Thousand Veils By DJ Murphy  – Just starting it, very well written and descriptive. I can hardly put it down!

Amazon Description –

When Fatima Shihabi, an Iraqi poet and journalist, learns she is marked for death by Saddam Hussein’s secret police, she flees Iraq, evading Saddam’s helicopters hunting her in the desert, only to discover that no other country will grant her asylum. Her flight from Saddam’s vengeance, and the extraordinary efforts of Charles Sherman, a Wall Street lawyer, to save her life, is the subject of this gripping novel, inspired by a true story. How Fatima and Charles, bound by their common humanity, love for each other, and fate, manage to thwart Saddam and achieve redemption sends a powerful message to the post-9/11 world. Their story points the way toward eventual reconciliation and synthesis between Islam and the West. D.J. Murphy is a retired international lawyer, whose practice included representation of refugees seeking asylum in the United States. The author contributes ten percent (10%) of net royalties derived from this book to the United Nations High Commission on Refugees.

Lots of raving reviews!

Up next is When the Soul Mends (Sisters of the Quilt, Book 3)
Amazon description:

After receiving a desperate and confusing call from her sister, Hannah Lapp reluctantly returns to the Old Order Amish community of her Pennsylvania childhood.

Having fled in disgrace more than two years earlier, she finally has settled into a satisfying role in the Englischer world. She also has found love and a new family with the wealthy Martin Palmer and the children she is helping him raise. But almost immediately after her arrival in Owl’s Perch, the disapproval of those who ostracized her, including her headstrong father, reopens old wounds.

As Hannah is thrown together with former fiancé Paul Waddell to work for her sister Sarah’s mental health, hidden truths surface about events during Hannah’s absence, and she faces an agonizing decision. Will she choose the Englischer world and the man who restored her hope, or will she heed the call to return to the Plain Life–and perhaps to her first love?

So for now i have some heavy reading to do!
